Fake Vande Bharat Glass Breaking Video Fact-checked

Fake video of a Vande Bharat glass being hammered by an unidentified person has been fact-checked by different media houses. It has been found to be false. The video went viral within a few hours of uploading. Many called out the man as a jihadi bent on indulging in violence. The truth is that the glass window needed to be changed. According to the standard of procedure, there is a certain method to change the window glass. Breaking the glass window with a hammer is the way to change, according to the procedure laid down and followed. Hence the video is not fake but the conclusion is fake. What the man has been shown doing was actually his business. Not anyone else.

Railways and trains have borne the brunt of the people’s anger in general. The services and the comfort in the trains have become much better. However, the poor still travel in abonimable condition. There is no proper place to sit, sleep or even stand during a festival season when the compartments are packed full.

A comparison with fellow travellers in an AC coach, potable water, catering services, spacious leg room looks vulgar. However, the Railways have its set of woes. If it doesn’t sell comfort, how else will it generate revenue? If it doesn’t generate enough revenue, how else will it subsidise the journey to the poor?
