Tajmahal is looking like what it must have looked like when the fountains in its front were inundated with water during Shahjahan‘s times. Water flowed down the mountains, the singers performing on either side of the fountains in the front of the historic monument. Incessant rains for last three days in Agra have given rise to level of water in the river flowing down behind the historic monument. As a result, the fountains in front of the Tajmahal are full of water reflecting the iconic image of Tajmahal. An offical of the Archaeological Survey of India told that the monument is safe from any damage despite the water leaking from the top dome of Tajmahal.
Superintending chief of the ASI, Agra circle, Rajkumar Patel has been quoted by the news agency as saying, “the leakage has been observed in the main dome of the Tajmahal. However, we have found that the cause is seepage. The dome is safe. No damage has been caused. We verified the condition of the dome using a drone camera.”
Last three days have witnessed the continuous rains causing damage to the crop in and around Agra. The streets have turned into drains.
Built between 1632 and 1653 by Mughal Emperor Shahjahan in Agra, Taj Mahal is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
