Varanasi has got the fastest and first 20-coach Vande Bharat Express train which has begun its commercial service to New Delhi on September 18. Flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier this week, and developed by the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai, the new 20-coach Vande Bharat will have as many as 144o commuters at one time. Varanasi is home to Prime Minister serving the temple town as the MP. Varanasi has changed its landscape and templescape as well, largely due to Modi steaming over the opposition.
Not to speak of the famous Vishwanath temple, even the banks of the holy Ganges have become speck and span as if the dirt and decay were washed clean over everyday. The boatmen making a livelihood of their daily waterways have continued to loudly credit the grandscale changes to the PM Modi. However, the last parliamentary elections had come as a shock to everyone when Modi was able to narrowly scrape through with a wafer margin. Clearly, there were more opponents than supporters in the temple town. No body could have sensed that strong anti-incumbeny quietly but strongly blowing the good deeds away with such disdain.
Today, the old have been thrown into the dustbin firmly and decisively without any second thoughts. Varanasi will go to the polls after 5 years. So much water will have flown down the holy ganges that no body is even going to remember these acts of Indian Railways. Indian Railways has reconfigured the coaches in a way that the number of passengers will increase but not the number of trains. It will save money on trains, reduce waiting list and upgrade last minute ticketers.
